🍸Barfly Guy🍸

barfly_guy

So y'all have probably been wondering where I've b So y'all have probably been wondering where I've been. You'd think during the quarantine I'd have more time to make cocktails. But truthfully I've been quite busy so when I need a cocktail I need something quick, easy and fast. This particular cocktail is anything but. I will say though that even though this cocktail takes 3 days to make (yes, you read that right), it is my favorite cocktail of all time.

This recipe is called the Jaleberry (pronounced Halle Berry). It's strawberry and jalapeno infused tequila with lime juice and agave.

INGREDIENTS (full batch)
1 750ml bottle of silver tequila. Nothing fancy but does the trick like @sauzatequila
Agave Syrup like @herradurateq
Lime juice (fresh is ideal) but in a pinch you can use @rosescordial
4 strawberries (more for garnish)
1 large jalapneo (more for garnish)
salt (optional)
2 mason jars (16 oz)

DIRECTIONS
1) Take 2 mason jars and in each one add half a jalapeno (cut lengthwise), 2 strawberries (cut into fourths and remove the top), and fill each one full of tequila. A 750ml bottle of tequila will fill both of them to the top exactly.

2) Make sure each jar is tightly sealed and give it a shake for a few seconds. Do that every 8 hours for 3 days.

3) When the three days has hit and you are ready to complete the infusion, you'll need to get a large container (32 oz or larger), and put a strainer over it while you pour the mason jar tequila into the new container.

4) Now you're ready to make your cocktail. Get a cocktail glass and rim it with salt. If you aren't into salt, try doing just half of the glass. That way you can test them both out. After salting the rim, fill it halfway with ice.

5) Take a cocktail shaker and add ice along with 3 parts tequila, 1 part lime juice and 1 part agave. Give it a good shake and strain into the cocktail glass.

6) Take a slice of jalapeno and a slice of strawberry and put it on a toothpick. Let it sit in the cocktail. You'll notice as time goes on that it gets slightly spicier. The longer the jalapeno ferments in the cocktail, the more spice will be added.

7) Put the remaining batch in the fridge to later use.

Hope you enjoy this cocktail as much as I do. Cheers

There is a drink called a White Lady Cocktail. But I thought I’d mix it up with something a little out of the norm. If you want to try the original white lady, do the same ingredients below but instead of maple syrup use simple syrup. We shall call this one the Maple Lady Cocktail.

INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1.5 oz Rutte Dry Gin @rutte_distillery⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.75 oz. Triple Sec @cointreau⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.75 oz Freshly squeezed lemon juice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.33 oz Maple Syrup⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.5 oz Egg White (about half an egg)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lemon zest twist for garnish (optional)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Put all the ingredients (minus garnish) into a shaker with ice and give it a good shake.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Take the ice out so you can give it an even longer dry shake.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Pour into chilled coupe glass.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Garnish with lemon zest twist (optional).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cheers!
What we have here is something similar to the bour What we have here is something similar to the bourbon and maple cider cocktail, but a lot more good citrus. It's called Rosemary and Maple Bourbon Sour.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3 oz Bourbon⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1.5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.75 oz Dark Amber Maple Syrup⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lemon slices (for garnish)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 Large sprig of rosemary (plus 2 small sprigs for garnish)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Crush the large sprig of rosemary in your hand and add to the shaker. Add the bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup, and ample ice. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Shake vigorously for 15 seconds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Add ice to cocktail glass and add a couple of lemon slices so it's layered.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Strain mixture into rocks glass with ice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Garnish with remaining rosemary sprig.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Every now and then I like to pretend I'm sophistic Every now and then I like to pretend I'm sophisticated. I also pretend to be healthy and could say I wanted the vitamin c from this Orange Martini, but we both know better. But if proper vitamin c was in this drink, I would definitely have my allotment daily. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS (if you are using a large martini glass, double the portions)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 oz Mandarin Orange Vodka⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Triple Sec⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Orange juice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Simple syrup*⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Mound coarse sugar and orange zest on a small plate. Mix with your two fingers, gently pressing on it so that the sugar absorbs the color and flavor of the zest. Or if this is too much work, you can always purchase orange sugar.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Rub around the rim of the martini glass with a lemon or orange wedge to moisten it. And roll the rim of the glass on the zesty sugar. Set aside.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Put all ingredients except sugar and orange zest into a cocktail shaker with ice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Shake until the mixture is icy cold, about 15-20 seconds.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5) Strain into chilled martini glasses and serve immediately.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So lately I've been seeing this liqueur called Hpn So lately I've been seeing this liqueur called Hpnotiq for a while now but never got around to mixing something with it ... until now. Plus it is International Women's Day so I thought I'd put together a girly drink. Then again, as long as it tastes good, I don't care how it looks. Kind of like when Dr. Dre was being interviewed on him signing a rapper that was white. His response was "I don't care if he's purple, as long as he can rap." Same rules apply when it comes to drinking.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
6 oz Martini glass⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1.5 oz Hpnotiq Liqueur @hpnotiq⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.5 oz Vodka @titosvodka⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Splash of Grenadine @rosescordial⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cherry to garnish (optional)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Shake everything but the grenadine together over ice, and pour it into a 6 oz martini glass.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Slowly add the grenadine along the very edge of the glass. Because it's heavier, if you pour it really slowly, it will sink to the bottom instead of mixing in and form a lower layer⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Add cherry for garnish (optional)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So it's a Saturday night and I'm thinking to mysel So it's a Saturday night and I'm thinking to myself, how do I want to end the night? With this whole Coronavirus going around, I was thinking of something yellow, but full of citris so I can pretend that this citris will stop be from getting it. Or at least get drunk to the point where I don't know I have it. So a Orange Gin Fizz it is.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3 oz gin @tanqueraygin @tanquerayusa⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 egg white⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.5 cup orange juice (1/4 cup if you’re going with the original)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Dash of grenadine @rosescordial⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3 or 4 large ice cubes (enough to make it really cold)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Club soda @canadadryclubsoda⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Combine all ingredients except the soda in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. And by vigorously, I mean a lot… shake it for a full 3 minutes. The egg white is what causes it to foam like that. What you see in the photo is just from one minute of shaking. So gauge how much foam you want.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Strain into a cocktail glass and fill with soda. Cheers

2) In another large glass or cocktail shaker, combine rum, vodka, lemonade, pineapple juice and shake for a few seconds.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Pour it into cocktail glass. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Unless you are a true booze hound aka drunkard, yo Unless you are a true booze hound aka drunkard, you probably haven't heard of the cocktail called "Paper Plane". And in all fairness, it contains a couple of ingredients that no amateur would carry at home, so if you have asked for this drink at a bar, then I salute you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This cocktail was invented by Aussie bartender Sam Ross in 2007. The Paper Plane is a modern variation on the Last Word—this time made with equal parts bourbon, Amaro Nonino, Aperol and lemon juice. Supposedly inspired by M.I.A.'s smash hit “Paper Plane” (which was also released in 2007), the cocktail strikes a beautiful balance between bitter, sour and herbal notes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Bourbon @makersmark⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Aperol @aperolusa aperolspritzofficial⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Amaro Nonino Quintessentia @grappanonino⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice @rosescordial⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Take a small coupe glass and put it in the fridge/freezer for a few minutes to get a nice chill to it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Take all of the ingredients along with ice and put it in a cocktail shaker. Give it a good shake.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Strain into a coupe glass⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) You may want to do this part first since my paper plane making skills are not the best and took a little longer. But make a little paper airplane and use a cocktail clothespin and attach it to the glass. Cheers!

I should have saved a recipe like this for Valentine's day, but then again, the only one who loves me are my cocktails and bartenders.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So what we have here is a Strawberry Lemon Drop. If you want a simple drink to make that is fast, this is not it. You definitely need to spend some time making it, but guys, if you make it for your date, I'm sure you'll be happy you did.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

6 Strawberries (plus 1 for garnish)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Simple Syrup⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 oz Triple Sec⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4 oz Vodka⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sugar for rimming⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Martini glass⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Take some lemon juice and put it on a place. Then turn your martini glass over and dip it in so it gets the complete rim.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Dip it in sugar, just the way you'd salt the rim of a glass for a margarita.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) After you dip it in upside down, twist it back and forth so any random pieces come off.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Turn it back over and put it in the fridge to cool while you make the cocktail.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5) In a large cocktail shaker, add all of the ingredients above and muddle the hell out of it so that it looks like a mess.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
6) Add ice and give it a good shake.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
7) Double strain it into the martini glass.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
8) Take the strawberry for garnish and cut a slit at the bottom so that it can easily be put on the glass. But prior to doing that, tip half of it in sugar to get a nice look to it. Cheers!

I've always been a fan of rum cocktails, then agai I've always been a fan of rum cocktails, then again I seem to be a fan of almost all cocktails. But today's recipe is the Dark 'n Stormy. The history of the drink is pretty fascinating. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In 1806, James Gosling, the oldest son of wine and spirits merchant William Gosling, set out from England on the ship Mercury bound for America. But after 91 days on the sea, the charter expired and the ship put in at the nearest port, St. George’s, Bermuda.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By 1860 the Goslings created their branded dark rum – Black Seal. They didn’t call it Black Seal at first, in fact, up until the First World War it was sold from a barrel. People just brought in their old bottles for a fill-up, a fill up of old rum. Eventually, though, the black rum was sold in champagne bottles reclaimed from the British officer’s mess and the corks were sealed with black sealing wax. Pretty soon people began to ask for Black Seal.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometime after World War 1, the Dark ‘n Stormy was born. It has its origins in a Ginger Beer factory that was run by the Royal Naval Officer’s Club. The sailors soon discovered that a hefty splash of the local Gosling’s Black Seal rum was a great addition to the Ginger Beer.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As for the name the Dark ‘n Stormy, it was coined by a sailor who commented that it was the color of a cloud only a fool or a dead man would sail under.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As you can’t patent a drink recipe, you can trademark a name and that’s what Goslings did with the Dark ‘n Stormy. So if you make a Dark ‘n Stormy with anything other than Gosling’s dark rum, you’re breaking the law.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mason jar⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 parts ginger beer @bundabergdrinks⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 part dark rum @krakenrum⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lime for garnish⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Take a mason jar and fill it to the top with ice. If you like extra lime, layer several slices between the ice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Pour two-thirds of it filled with ginger beer.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Pour one-third of dark rum on top. Use the back of a spoon to give it the layered look.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Garnish with lime and you're all set. Cheers!

COCKTAIL⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Use corn syrup or lime juice around the rim of the glass and dip it in sugar. I used pink, but feel free to use whatever kind you'd like. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

3) Pour straight up or over ice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Garnish with lime slices and frozen raspberries which helps keep it chilled. I chose not to use garnish on this one because I wanted all of the available room to be strictly booze. Cheers!

Sometimes the simplest recipes are often the best. Sometimes the simplest recipes are often the best. Some of the most classic and favorite cocktails are those that only contain a couple ingredients. A Classic Tom Collins is one of them. I don't know about you, but the majority of the cocktails I have only contain a couple of ingredients. That's usually because either a) I need a drink stat or b) I'll end up cutting off a finger again trying to make a fancy cocktail while drunk. So I suggest focusing on something simple like this splendid cocktail.

INGREDIENTS
Collins glass
2 oz Gin
1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
Club soda
Lemon slices and Cherry for garnish

DIRECTIONS
1) In a Collins glass, fill it to the top with ice. I suggest adding slices of lemon in between as layers. Makes it look more colorful and elegant.
2) In another glass or shaker, combine the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup.
3) Pour mixture into Collins glass.
4) Top it off with soda water.
5) Garnish with lemon slice and cherry. Cheers

But the recipe definitely consists of a lot more time than I wanted to dedicate today. Which I'm sure you don't want to have to do as well, so I'm making a simpler version, but I bet even tastier. So we shall call this one "Twisted Cherry Gin Rickey". I actually had to make multiple of these. Quite tasty.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The ingredients will be mostly the same except I am going to substitute cherry syrup with grenadine and lime for lemon as a garnish. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1 oz Simple Syrup⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Grenadine⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/2 oz Lime Juice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3 oz Gin⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Soda Water⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lemon and cherry for garnish⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

4) Garnish with lemon and a cherry⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Today I’m going to make you another extremely we Today I’m going to make you another extremely well-known cocktail called the Boulevardier. It’s very simple, and multiple ways you can make it. The custom way is equal parts Bourbon or Rye, Campari and Sweet Vermouth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Boulevardier, appeared in Harry’s 1927 bar guide, Barflies and Cocktails. It was the signature drink of Erskine Gwynne, expatriate writer, socialite and nephew of railroad tycoon Alfred Vanderbilt. Gwynne edited a monthly magazine, a sort of Parisian New Yorker, named The Boulevardier.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Boulevadier is just like a Negroni, except swap out the bourbon with gin. If you like Negroni’s, you’ll like Boulevardier. If you dislike one, you’ll dislike the other. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This can be made on the rocks or in a coupe glass. A coupe is most common with Boulevardier while a rocks glass is more common with a Negroni.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Bourbon (I used Knob Creek) @knobcreek⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Campari @campariusa @compariofficial⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 oz Sweet Vermouth @dubonnetrouge⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lemon or Orange slice for garnish⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Chill a small coupe glass ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Mix the bourbon, Campari and sweet vermouth in a mixing glass or shaker and stir.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Pour into coupe glass⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Garnish with lemon or orange
Today I'm making one of the most popular whiskey c Today I'm making one of the most popular whiskey cocktails, which is a Manhattan. It's ranked #2 as the most popular whiskey drink behind the Old Fashioned. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The popular theory is that this was created in the Manhattan club in New York City in the early 1870’s, for a banquet hosted by Winston Churchill’s mother. Canadian whisky became an alternative during the prohibition, as it was more widely available.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Countless variations on this classic have appeared since then, with different versions making it sweeter, sharper, more expensive, cheaper, or swapping out the whiskey or the vermouth altogether in favor of rum or tequila.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, you don’t reach the number two spot without gaining respect all of your own…⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 oz Rye Whiskey (you can use any kind of whiskey you'd like) @whistlepigwhiskey⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3/4 oz Sweet Red Vermouth @martinirossius⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 dashes of aromatic bitters @angosturahouse⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cherries (maraschino or brandied) for garnish⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Add all ingredients into a mixing glass or shaker with ice, and stir until well-chilled.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Strain into a chilled coupe glass.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Add cherry for garnish. Cheers
Today's recipe is quite simple but elegant. It's c Today's recipe is quite simple but elegant. It's called a Ginger Highball. As long as you have whiskey, ginger ale, ice and a lemon, you're all set.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can use any type of whiskey, I chose to use Rye. As far as measurements go, it all depends on how tall your glass is. I used a tall Highball glass so my measurements I'm sure would be higher than yours, if you're using a regular glass.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Equal parts Whiskey (I used Rye) @jimbeamofficial⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Equal parts Ginger Ale @canadadrygingerale⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/2 lemon⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can just randomly throw all the ingredients at once. But if you want to make it fancy, I would layer the lemon and ice. I would put a slice of lemon, then ice, then another lemon and keep doing that until it's to the top. Make sure it's packed to the top along with the straw. Make sure the straw is in first before you pour in the alcohol.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then stir the ingredients in a shaker. I would pour extra just in case it doesn't fill to the top of the glass. You can always refill it. ;)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stir the ingredients, don't shake. Then pour it into the glass. It's that simple. If for some reason you don't make enough, do the same steps again and make sure to stir it. If you just randomly pour them in, the colors won't be consistent and if you try to stir it, it will no longer look layered. Cheers!
Usually I wait until winter to make this cocktail, Usually I wait until winter to make this cocktail, but I was in the mood, so why wait? The cocktail for today is called Bourbon & Maple Apple Cider. I first learned about this cocktail about 7 years ago. I was hesitant to try it but I figured I'd give it a shot. I thought with these ingredients it sounded odd. And after the first sip I was still not sure how to think about it. But then once you have a few more sips you appreciate the taste. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3 oz Makers Mark Bourbon⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3 teaspoons of maple syrup⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/2 cup of Spiced Apple Cider⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Apple slice for garnish⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIRECTIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Fill glasses and a cocktail shaker with ice. To shaker, add bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup, and apple cider; shake vigorously.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Strain into glass and garnish with a slice of apple. Cheers!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I don't have gin too often, but I wanted something I don't have gin too often, but I wanted something refreshing and thought a Raspberry Gin Fizz sounded nice. Of course with mine I did twice as many raspberries because I wanted to make my immune system stronger by having an extra serving of fruit. That counts right? 🙂 Or maybe it was because it is Valentine's Day and was thinking of the color red (doubtful). Now keep in mind that the recipe I did was different than what I would recommend. So I am going to list both amounts for you.

INGREDIENTS
1.5 oz of Gin vs 3 oz
5-6 Fresh Raspberries vs 12
4 Mint Leaves vs 0 (I ran out)
3/4 oz of Simple Syrup vs 1.5 oz
.75 oz of Club Soda (same amount)
ice
few raspberries for garnish. I would also suggest mint as well.

DIRECTIONS
1) In a shaker, add raspberries, mint leaves, simple syrup and gin.
2) Muddle together.
3) Fill a glass with ice.
4) Strain the muddled mixture into the glass over the ice.
5) Add club soda and stir.
6) Garnish with fresh raspberries and a sprig of mint.

Ideally you want more of a pink lemonade look to it. Where there is more club soda in proportion to your other ingredients. As you can tell, I like to pour heavy on the booze portion.

Give it a try and let me know what you thought.
